BIOGRAPHY

The saxophonist Filip Orlović was born in Kragujevac (Serbia) in 1994. He began his musical education at the age of 13 at the Kosta Manojlović Music School in Smederevo, Serbia and graduated from the "dr Miloje Milojević" Music School in his hometown of Kragujevac with Prof. Dragiša Živković, where he was one of the best graduates of his year.

 

In June 2013 he passed the entrance examination at the Academy of Arts in Novi Sad, Serbia in the class of Prof. Gordan Tudor. In October of the same year, Filip's tireless diligence was rewarded with a guest appearance on the project “Music for Peace”, where he made his solo debut with Jacques Ibert's “Concertino da camera” under the direction of Felix Korobov with the Moscow Chamber Orchestra in the hall of the Moscow P.I. Tchaikovsky Conservatory played. There was another performance of the saxophone concerto in Tambov (Russia) with the local chamber orchestra.


In 2016/17 Filip was part of a student exchange at the Academy of Arts in Split (Croatia). He then received his bachelor's degree in Novi Sad with top marks. He completed two master's programs with distinction in Novi Sad with Prof. Nikola Fabijanić and in Cologne with Prof. Daniel Gauthier. After all Filip Orlović finished his chamber music Master degree at the University of Music and Dance in Cologne with professors Georg Klütsch (Bassoon) and Han-An Liu (Harp).
In addition to his studies, Filip regularly attends master classes with, among others, Arno Bornkamp, Claude Delangle, Timothy McAllister, Oto Vrhovnik, Mario Marzi, Lev Pupis etc.


Filip has been the winner of numerous prices on competitions in Serbia and Croatia since 2010. His special awards include the 1st prize in the Wind competition in Varaždin 2016, where he also received the special prize that enabled him to take part in the masterclass in Arosa (Switzerland) with Prof. Lars Mlekusch and in 2017 the “Foundation Award - The Little Prince“ For outstanding performance in the bachelor degree. 


In addition to his solo career, his professional career includes numerous orchestral concerts in Serbia, Croatia and Germany, among others with the Belgrade Philharmonic Orchestra, the Vojvodina's Symphony Orchestra, the Serbian National Opera Orchestra, the Cologne Chamber Opera, the Symphony Orchestra of the Cologne University of Music and Dance and the Croatian National Opera Orchestra.


Filip Orlović has been the baritone of the Eternum Saxophone Quartet since 2017 and as a permanent member, contributes to the unmistakable sound of the quartet.

Filip plays Selmer Baritone Mark VI saxophone, Selmer Alto and Tenor Mark VII saxophone and Selmer Serie II Soprano Saxophone,
